NUST Formula Student Team

“In 2012, a group of motivated students of NUST- PNEC formed “Formula NUST Racing” to represent Pakistan at one of the world’s largest educational motorsports competition. This Team took part in Formula Student, a competition which challenges engineering students from around the globe to conceive, design and build a single-seat racing car to be judged in a series of static and dynamic events. Organised by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, the competition is a culmination of a year full of hard work, collaborations and partnerships.

The Team’s efforts would have been futile had it not been for its sponsors, particularly Group, who supported the Project at every step of its Formula Student journey. The Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) at NUST has also played an essential role in supporting the Team in its endeavours. In 2015, Group further strengthened its commitment by becoming the title partners of the same Team which will now be known as the “ NUST Formula Student Team”.

NUST Formula Student Team holds the honour of being the first ever formula student from Pakistan to have taken part for 03 years consecutively in Formula Student, UK. The Team has gained invaluable knowledge and technical experience of engineering design, project management and business presentation skills from its participation in Formula Student. Side by side, NUST Formula Student Team showed the world what Pakistani individuals were capable of as a team as well as individuals by delivering an outstanding performance at the 2014 Formula Student event. The Team came 52nd out of the 106 teams that took part in the competition, and was also declared winners for the “Most Effective Communications Strategy” award.

This year, the Team has launched its “Racing to Learn” campaign in collaboration with its partner, Group, to promote learning through motorsports. Under this slogan, the Team is conducting various programs, which includes awareness campaigns in different schools of the country about the FS competition and about motorsports and engineering in general. Together with this, the “Racing to Learn” Mascot will serve to effectively convey the positive initiative about excellence in learning through motorsports.

It can be said that NUST Formula Student Team is one step closer to achieving its vision of producing the best human resource that will enable Pakistan to be at the forefront of technology by practically implementing classroom teachings into building useful skills and gaining work experience through this project. For the year 2015, NUST Formula Student Team will participate once again at the Formula Student UK and will go a step further by making its mark at Formula Student Germany for the first time.”
